The Beloved Benefit 2019 was an amazing evening! It was incredible to see The Ostreum filled with so many guests…a wonderful mix of familiar faces and new faces too. In spite of the rainy and cold weather, people showed up.
The theme for this year was “Let Us Be Bold.” We were thrilled to be able to offer all guests an invitation to attend free of charge. Not one single guest paid a ticket price. This is due to the generous support of a few donors whose contributions paid for all of the expenses associated with The Beloved Benefit. This also means that every dollar raised will go to help with Beloved Bundles, Soft Interview Rooms and the Molly Jane Matheson Memorial Scholarship in Social Work at The University of Arkansas.
Guests were treated to delicious drinks provided by Blackland Distillery, Hop Fusion, Ben E Keith and Southern Glazer’s. A yummy buffet dinner was prepared by Lettuce Cook complete with their insanely good pimento cheese and bread at each table. Rumor has it some guests attempted to take home the left over pimento cheese. For dessert, guests were treated to an incredible iced sugar cookie by Cowtown Confections. After the program, The Eighty Eights Show took to the stage and entertained everyone with their dueling pianos.
A mock up of a Soft Interview Room was available for guests to explore. Many thanks to West Elm for partnering with us as we install Soft Interview Rooms at law enforcement agencies across the country.
Project Beloved founder, Tracy Matheson, shared an update on the work Project Beloved has accomplished over the last year. There were a couple guest speakers too. Lt Darren Zachary of the University of Louisiana Lafayette campus police department shared a testimony on the importance of soft interview rooms when working with victims of sexual assault. Representative Craig Goldman also spoke about the recent legislative victory that is now known as Molly Jane’s Law in the state of Texas.
The Beloved Benefit 2019 is going to be awesome! We are thrilled to be able to extend an invitation to our guests to attend with no ticket price. This is solely due to the overwhelmingly generous support of donors who stand beside us as we strive to change the conversation about sexual assault and empower survivors to find their voices.
